01/15/25 FIND AND FOLLOW GOD'S PLAN
Martha was reading about a young man (William [Bill] W. Borden) who was heir to a fortune. As a young child his mother, converted to evangelical Christianity, took him to (Moody) Church in Chicago, where he eventually was converted through the ministry of R. A. Torrey. At the age of 16 his parents gave him a trip around the world for his high school graduation.
We have seen rich kids given this kind of opportunity portrayed in old movies. However, during this young man's travels he attended church in London and surrendered his life to Christ for missionary service, again under the preaching of R. A. Torrey. Upon his return he attended Yale and Princeton. He started and grew Bible study groups, reaching 1,000 out of 1,300 students in the school .
When he set out for his missionary quest to Muslims in Gansu Province in China, studied and ministered to people in Egypt, while he studied Arabic. He contracted cerebral meningitis and died withing tree weeks.
There is much more tho this story, but let me tell you why I share it.
Not everyone can travel the world or go to Yale and Princeton (back when they had a more Christian orientation). But whosoever will receive (take hold of) and believe the gospel and whosoever will surrender his or her life fully to Christ can enter into a journey, an adventure that will take them to places and experiences beyond their wildest expectations.
We do not follow Jesus for the adventure. We turn to Him for forgiveness, cleansing, deliverance from sin. But God seeks the lost, in order to save them and He seeks those believers who worship in spirit and in truth, for His service.
We need God's salvation.
God calls us to His salvation.
We are accountable for responding to His call to salvation.
God calls believers to His service.
We are accountable for becoming the surrendered vessels, through whom He works.
We don't know how long we have in this world.
Don't waste a moment.
Serve the Lord with gladness, all the days of your life, BEGINNING NO LATER THAN NOW.
