03/14/25 LOVING OUR LOVED ONES

03/14/25 LOVING OUR LOVED ONES

Not only is it revealed in Scripture, it is also evidenced in life.

Those who choose to walk against light are the ones who manifest a hatred for their family, especially if their family is serving God. It is not the follower of Christ who lies about their loved ones or gossips or gets angry and vindictive. Christians respond to rebellious loved ones in the same way God deals with them. He loves them, but He does not condone their wickedness.

Christians can be kind, loving, forgiving, even when they are being scorned, ridiculed, slandered. The pain is great and so much greater when the attacker is a family member.

The believer prays for reconciliation but seldom has the chance to talk openly with the person who is committed to a broken relationship. Sadly, the venom spewed in anger poisons other people, including other loved ones. This is what happens when a man's enemies are those of his own household.

We can't stop this from happening to us. But we can love our enemies, even if they are the people we have loved the most.

Matthew 10:34-39
34 Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword.
35 For I am come to set a man at variance against his father, and the daughter against her mother, and the daughter in law against her mother in law.
36 And a man's foes shall be they of his own household.
37 He that loveth father or mother more than me is not worthy of me: and he that loveth son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me.
38 And he that taketh not his cross, and followeth after me, is not worthy of me.
39 He that findeth his life shall lose it: and he that loseth his life for my sake shall find it.
