If there is a body part that is not functioning properly (hand, foot, eye, ear, mouth, nose, lung, heart, stomach), then the entire body suffers. The failure of the one part could cripple or completely debilitate other parts of the body. The malady could even spread like an infection or a cancer, killing the body.
This is true concerning the local body of believers (the church).
A good question to ask oneself is "What kind of church would my church be, if all of the members were just like me?"
In the church arena, are you a spectator, a fan, a bench warmer, a glory seeker or a self-sacrificing team member committed to victory?
Are you committed to training, to discipline, to leadership, to unity?
Is it a pastime, a social amusement, an inconvenient obligation, or a burning desire?
Do you need to be sought and recruited, or are you eagerly looking for something you can do to evangelize the lost and edify the believer?
Are you a critic or a cheerleader?
There are enough "hangers on," but few who are addicted to spiritual service and willing to give their all for Christ.
