Just a few thoughts to consider as we prepare our hearts to study, worship and draw closer to God tomorrow.
Okay, we may not agree on an exhaustive and precise definition of "SIN," but if we can agree that sin is at least, "willful disobedience to the known law of God," then I would hope we can also agree that God provides enough grace, to deliver anyone who truly trusts in Jesus from the temptation to commit that kind of sin?
If God is able to deliver us from a single sin, and if He gives us victory over a specific sin, then isn't it possible that God can (and He will) deliver us from most temptations, and ultimately, isn't it reasonable that God can and will deliver us from all temptation?
Actually, it is not even a question as to what we think about this question, since God's word clearly says that God will deliver us from all temptation, if we trust in Him.
So, the point is, if you are failing to resist temptations, from which God is willing and able to deliver you, then you are a willful rebel against God, rather than a trusting child of God. You are still the slave of sin, and you have not been delivered (saved). Don't let anyone rob you of the joy of having a loving obedience and a faithful submission.
Another question is, what passage of Scripture ever says that God cannot or will not deliver His children from temptation and willful disobedience?
These points do not need to be put under a theological microscope or debated by super intellects. The Bible addresses these issues, clearly, repeatedly, consistently.
God does save His people from their sin. Believers can obey God. There is always a way of escape from the devil's temptation. Salvation makes us more than conquerors over sin and temptation. And the Biblical record goes on and on.
It isn't until someone starts doing fancy theological footwork and redefining the obvious revelation of God, that people get confused about whether God will or will not deliver His people from temptation, sin and sinning in this present evil world. When you meet someone who tells you differently, run for your spiritual life, because that person is a minion of evil, a spreader of deception, a blinded person blinding other people, a false witness.
