12/11/25 HERESY AND DAMNABLE HERESY

There is Heresy, and there is Damnable Heresy. Sometimes there is a very thin line of separation between them. Heresy and damnable heresy are dangerous variations from established Christian beliefs. Heresy can refer to minor differences of belief. But Heresy can also refer to differences in beliefs about more important doctrines. Damnable Heresy is believing a false doctrine that is essential to salvation, or the nature of God. It is important to avoid false doctrines, erroneous beliefs, and heresies concerning non-essential points of doctrine. Minor Heresy can lead to multiple Heresies, which may result in believing Damnable Heresies.

Belief in Sound doctrine is the opposite of Heresy. It should be the intent of every Christian to believe God's truth and only God's truth; however, we know that most Christians disagree with other Christians concerning various Biblical issues. Obviously, believers must agree with Scripture and one another about the doctrines of salvation.

Knowing the "Truth" is liberating. Believing a lie is destructive. When we are born again, we do not have perfect knowledge about God and salvation. It is normal and expected for new Christians to seek information, knowledge, understanding, and wisdom concerning God and His salvation. We are expected to grow in the grace and knowledge of the Lord Jesus. Healthy Christians pursue deeper knowledge and understanding concerning God, His word, and prayerful submission to God's truth. And though we will learn throughout our Christian life, we will always be able to learn more.

Since Christians expect to be imperfect, they often settle for unnecessary imperfections. They settle for limited knowledge, understanding and wisdom. The problem with this complacency is that a person may be settling for something that is robbing them of grace and victory. They may lose the treasure of the indwelling of the Holy Spirit and the assurance of salvation because they listen to the voice of Satan, telling them that they do not need to grow in spiritual understanding, and they do not need to hold fast to the promises of God.

There are damnable heresies that people believe to be Biblical truths. One DAMNABLE HERESY is the demonic notion that God does not deliver His children from sinning in this present life. Another Damnable heresy is the lie that God does not purify the hearts of His faithful believers. There are other false doctrines that lead to unBiblical actions and behavior. We make our calling and election sure by aligning our faith with Biblical truth. We must know the truth if we want to be set free from deception and sin. We must walk in the light if we want to be cleansed from all sin. We must be doers of the word and not just hearers of the word.
